Aka Stick and Poke tattooing, is a non-electrical method of tattooing that involves using a needles dipped in ink to carefully place the ink one dot at a time into the outer layer of the skin. The needles used for hand poke tattooing are the same used with machine tattooing.
Hand poke tattooing provides a distinct aesthetic, that can produce a distinct result.
Both machine tattooing and Hand poke tattooing aim to create permanent marks on the skin. Hand poking involves the precise manual insertion of ink, into the dermis layer. Hand poking is generally slower than machine tattooing, it offers the advantage of faster healing. When done correctly, it causes less trauma to the skin allowing each dot to heal easier and faster, less bruising and potential for scabbing.
There is the same level of hygiene and regulations for hand poke tattooing that there is for machine tattooing. Artists practices hand poke tattooing prioritize their client's well-being by maintaining sterile work environments, utilizing single-use needles and adhering to proper sanitation protocols.
My private studio complies with all council regulations for Victoria.
To create your design for our ritual session, I use your Human Design and/or Gene Keys. Jump over to the sessions page to read more about what happens during a ritual session.
Human design/Gene Keys uses your birth date, location, and time to help revel your unique traits, personality and gifts. Helping to guide us to living a more aligned life, helping us to connect to our most authentic self. I use this information to tune into you and what you need.
Gene keys is used to self-exploration and self-illumination based on a code of consciousness inspired by the Chinese I Ching. Gene Keys holds 64 keys that are imprinted on our DNA at our precise time of birth. These keys hold different frequencies or vibrations that help to transform our awareness for our higher purpose.
I use all this information to help tune into your energy field and see what you need at this precise moment in time, sometimes it might be something you already know but need reminding, sometimes it can be something that you're not expecting and sometimes it might not resonate at all and that's ok, that's why we get to work together, when that does happen, more often than not, it will integrate into life at a later moment.
This is the same process I use for Intuitive Artwork pieces. If you have any other questions about Human Design or Gene Keys please feel free to reach out or good ol' google is a wealth of knowledge.
The pain experienced during a hand poke tattoo session can vary depending on personal tolerance and the location of the tattoo. Generally, hand poke tattoos are known for being gentler and a less intense sensation compared to machine tattoos. There are certain spots on the body that are more sensitive than others, so if you are concerned about your pain threshold there are always alternatives for tattoo placement. However, everyone's pain tolerance is different and to check in with me if you experience any discomfort or have any concerns.
Individual healing experiences vary from person to person, and its essential to follow proper aftercare instructions.
There's a few things you can do to help be prepared for your tattoo session.
*Make sure you get a good night's sleep beforehand.
*Stay hydrated, bring a drink bottle with you.
*Eat some food and bring some snacks if you need.
*Wear comfy clothes.
*Some women find that during their menstrual cycle there are more sensitive times than others, it can be a good idea to tune into your cycle and book your session accordingly. Often around your bleed time or beforehand is when we are a little more sensitive to pain.
I will run you through aftercare during your session and you'll take home a 'aftercare' info sheet.
But in case you've lost it and are looking for information.
This is what I recommend (also feel free to send me a message if you have any questions)
STRIAGHT AFTER YOUR SESSION
*Keep your second skin on for 12-24hrs or gladwrap for 1-2hrs
*To remove your second skin, run under soapy water and gently peel back the bandage whist soapy. (check my highlights on Instagram for a preview)
*After removing your protective covering, gently wash with luke warm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap.
*Pat dry with a towel.
*Apply a thin layer of your preferred tattoo balm.
*Avoid tight clothing for 24hrs
FOR 7-10 DAYS AFTER YOUR SESSION
*Don't soak your tattoo (showers are okay, no public pools)
*Wash and clean your tattoo daily
*Apply a small amount of tattoo balm 2-3 times a day, unless you find it drying out more, then apply more.
*Try not to scratch your tattoo if you find it getting a little itchy.
*If you find it has scabbed, don't pick at it, this can pull the ink out and lead to you need a touch up.
*Try and keep it out of the sun.
